What? South Park - Parks and Recreation Center’s goal is to be able to provide scholarship opportunities to remove barriers that some participants may face due to socio-economic status, race, ethnicity, gender, disability, or other factors. SPPRC aims to provide programming without limitations on who can participate. This scholarship application is for Fairplay Flyers. SPPRC is working on providing more scholarship opportunities in the near future.

How? The scholarship committee will be deciding eligibility both on a financial need basis as well as a personal statement from the participant. Financial need will be determined with a proof of financial status. The personal statement should showcase the participant’s goals in the specific program, accomplishments, and why they deserve the scholarship. Also considered will be the applicant’s character, and commitment to the organization.

Application Process? Those wishing to apply will turn in their application materials by November 12th, 2024. Application materials include: 

  1. Personal statement from the participant between 100 and 200 words
  2. Financial status documents: Proof of participation in any need-based assistance program provided by the federal or state government. Such as: Free and reduced lunch, WIC card, SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, Section 8, or other assistance.

When? Families will be notified in writing of the scholarship decision approximately 8-10 days after the deadline.

Application materials will not be disclosed, shared, or used for any purposes other than those for which it was provided, without the express permission of the owner of the information.
